installation detail - beaconsfield gallery

Installation detail from Mary Anne Francis: Group Show at Beaconsfield, London, 2000

From the press release:

'On reaching Beaconsfield you ring the bell.  Someone lets you in.  You follow them inside to the downstairs space.  But something is not quite right.  You hesitate: the show is still being installed.  For sure, there are 'works of art' to see: a large-scale sculpture towards the back… there is a slide-projection in progress to your left and yet, on the floor, there are cardboard boxes spilling bubble wrap and Styrofoam packing with bits of other works of art poking out: a giant-grasshopper?  There are also what look like floor-plans for the exhibition strewn over more boxes.  A cup of tea has been abandoned… You look for the person who has let you in, but she has disappeared.  You search in your pocket for the press release to check the dates – which do, indeed, confirm that you have not come a week too early.'
